CMHS Adds Baltimore County Detention Center to Its Growing List of Facilities
October 13, 2006
Correctional Mental Health Services, LLC (CMHS) is proud to announce the addition of the Baltimore County Detention Center (BCDC) to the list of their now thirteen detention centers currently being served throughout Maryland. Comprehensive mental health services will be provided which will include mental health screening, outreach, assessment, psychiatric management and mental health counseling services. As in all CMHS contracts, state accredited mental health training for all of BCDC’s Correctional Officers will be available. CMHS will provide its services as a subcontractor under CONMED, Inc, the contracted medical provider. CONMED, Inc. is another Maryland-based company with which CMHS works in several facilities in Maryland and with whom we are proud to be associated.
Baltimore County Detention Center is the largest county facility in Maryland and houses approximately 1400 inmates. The facility recently moved into a multimillion dollar, state of the art addition/renovation that brings it into the 21st century. BCDC offers CMHS its greatest challenge to date, but also provides an opportunity to showcase their nationally recognized program and approach to care. As noted by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) report regarding conditions of confinement at a CMHS site, “The implementation of the CMHS contract established a system that provides timely and appropriate mental health treatment.”
CMHS continues to provide the highest quality of services and jail management philosophies available anywhere in the nation. Their unique approach and techniques meet or exceeds all national correctional standards and, thus, they continue to fulfill their mission to “serve the underserved.”
